Sign & Go Weddings and Elopements
You can obtain your marriage license from your local County Clerk's office. Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to obtain a marriage license. The Applicants are required to apply for the marriage license together in person and submit the licensing fee along with two forms of identification including one of the following:
Valid Driver's License
Valid State Identification Card
Military Identification Card
Passport
AND
Social Security Number
You must bring your marriage license with you on the day of your ceremony. After the ceremony. You will need to return your marriage application yourself. The County Clerk will issue your official marriage certificate after the application is received. You must pick up your Rutherford County marriage certificate in person.
Divorce Decrees
For a divorce decree to be notarized, it must contain (1) language committing the signer in some way; (2) an original signature from the document signer; and (3) notarial certificate language, which can appear in the document itself or in an attachment.
Undated divorce decrees cannot be notarized. If the document has a space for a date, it should either be filled in or marked through. If the document does not have a space for a date, the signer may date it next to his or her signature or mark.
